Lisa Halvorsen has been married for 20 years and has 4 children, ages 17, 14, 12, and 10.  Her children attend Wayzata public schools and are very active in athletics and other school activities.  Lisa and her husband moved to Minnesota in 2009 to start Harvest Bible Chapel in West Minneapolis, she is involved in women's ministry, as well as supporting her husband in his role as pastor.  She is currently the Assistant Director at Crossfire Youth Sports, a faith-based volleyball club, where she coaches her youngest daughter's team and does private lessons.  She also coaches the 10th grade Wayzata volleyball team.  Lisa was involved in MOPS for years when her children were small and is excited to share with us where her journey has taken her since then.
Jen Peterson has been married for 14 years and has 3 children, ages 11, 9, and 2.  She and her husband own a home business together which they purchased from her parents 4-1/2 years ago.  Jen has been attending Maple Grove Evangelical Free Church since she was 9 years old.  She graduated from Northwestern College and has helped in almost every age group at church from nursery through Sr. High youth group.  She currently helps with 5th & 6th grade Sunday School.  Jen enjoys reading, scrapping, camping, going for bike rides/walks with her family when it's nice out, and watching her kids' baseball, soccer, football, and basketball games.

This Week's Reminders

  • Brunch is provided by SS Mommies.  Please email your recipes to maplegrovemops@gmail.com to have it included in our online brunch recipe book.
  • We are thrilled to have been able to reschedule our Zumba session for THIS WEEK!  Come wearing (or bring) your yoga pants and tennis shoes that you bought for your New Year's Resolution, and get ready to boost those endorphins!
Handy Tips
  • Save time and money by packing a bag lunch, even for at home!  Is it a rush to get the kids home from MOPS on Tuesdays?  Do you end up swinging through the McDonald's drive-through every week?  Try packing a bag lunch at home before you leave in the morning and leave it in the fridge!  Let your kids help you pack it...and they can even color the brown bag while you spread the peanut butter.  There's nothing like having a healthy, inexpensive lunch ready and waiting for you when you get home!
  • If you're spending a lot of time in the car with your kids, try giving them magnets to play with on a metal cookie sheet!
Save the Dates

Tuesday, February 12th -- Day of Pampering!  Come to MOPS a few minutes early (check your kids in as early as 9:15) and get ready to be pampered!  With everything from a catered breakfast, to massages, to some exciting prizes, this is a morning you don't want to miss!

October 17-19, 2013 -- MOPS International Convention featuring Beth Moore!  Details will be available at our MOPS meetings or by clicking here.  Registration is currently open, and this event is expected to sell out quickly!
