Jim married his High School sweetheart, Tammy, 24 years ago. They have three daughters; Allie (20), Amara (17), and Erin (12). Jim figures that having four close women in his life is God’s way of keeping him humble.
The Hobbs family enjoy taking vacations, National Parks, playing sports, and trash talking one another while playing sports.
Jim has a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

LeRoy Cluever: father of Caytie Hall.
I retired last spring after working for an electric distribution cooperative in Benson Minnesota. Since retirement it has been mainly loafing and taking care of maintenance around the home and yard..
Wife Heidi and I live in Benson, MN as we have for about 27 1/2 years.
Caytie is our oldest daughter. She has 4 older brothers, 2 younger sisters and a younger brother. All of the kids are employed and on their own. Five of the kids are married and 4 have children.
With that many children there has not been a lot of time for hobbies or other interests. I am enjoying retirement but the wife and family is still the main focus of interest. I get in some fishing, but the grandkids have priority on my time.

Rick Heupel: Rick grew up on a farm in the center of North Dakota, one of six children.  He completed college at NDSU with a degree in Electrical Engineering and moved to Minneapolis for work.  It was in Minneapolis as part of crazy bunch of young people trying to figure out how to live life and do ministry that he met and married his wife Mavis.  They were married in 1978 and have 4 children and currently 6 grand children.
Rick's work experience includes being part of the team that brought the first commercial microwave ovens to market, development of the Zinc-air battery technology that currently powers over 90% of all hearing aids (also developed a battery pack that flew on many space shuttle missions).  In 1989 they moved to SIngapore and spent 11 years in different functional areas.  They moved back to the US in 2000 to ensure that their oldest daughter would be supported as she started college in a 'foreign' land.  Rick current is the President of Common Ground Consultants that is involved in 'Helping Christians understand Muslims and Helping Muslims understand Jesus'.  He also serves on Boards of several other non-profit organizations.   Rick and Mavis attend Ridgewood Church in Minnetonka.

December 9th Newsletter

This Week's Speaker:

Christy Englehart-Hope Anchors the Soul
Christy Engelhart has been happily married to her “exceptionally good looking” best friend, Chad, for ten years. She is a mom to three wonderfully rambunctious kiddos that keep her on her toes, and also clambering for a cup or two of coffee every morning. She loves any excuse to go out with friends, especially if there is food involved. Most importantly, she is a passionate follower of Jesus Christ.  Christy earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and a Master of Christian Education from Bethel University and Seminary in St Paul, MN. For eight years, she served as the middle school youth pastor at Oak Haven Church in Ham Lake, MN. During that time she developed a love for speaking to youth (and adults) about the love and grace of Jesus.  In 2011, with the pending birth of her second child, she made the difficult choice to step down from full-time Church ministry to focus primarily on raising her children. Now, when time permits, Christy enjoys blogging at loveplunge.wordpress.com, and speaking to groups (of all ages) about the many things God is teaching her on this incredible journey called life.

This Week's Reminders:

  • This is our only meeting for the month of December.  We will see you back January 13th.
  • We have Day of Pampering needs.  Don't forget to respond to the email you were sent with these needs and let us know if you can help to make this day a success.
  •  Due to our sound issues, we will be going up to the sanctuary for our speaker again.  In order to not lose a lot of discussion and/or craft time, please avoid lingering in the community room.
  • We will be signing thank you cards for our MOPPETS workers during brunch.  Please take a moment when you can to make sure you get a chance to sign them.

This Week's MOPPETS:

MOPPETS for December 2014 Theme: A WoweeBOZowee Christmas!

Christmas is coming to BOZ Treehouse Time! At MOPPETS, we will focus on the birth of Jesus as recorded in Luke 2.
Young children love to role-play events of the first Christmas. For a living nativity, wrap a doll in a towel and let your child dress up as you explain what happened in Bethlehem. A towel, bathrobe or terrycloth swim cover-up works well as a generic costume to dress as Mary, Joseph, and the innkeeper and shepherds. This can be a simple way to highlight the real meaning of the season.

  • Memory Verse: Jesus was born for me. (From Luke 2:11 – “The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!”)
  • Biblical Concept: God’s Son, Jesus, was born on Christmas.
  • Snack: Mini-wheats (think manger straw ).

Looking ahead:
  • Steering Team Meeting Moms for Tuesday, January 6th 9:15 – 11:45 AM. Thank you so much for helping out!!!
    • Karyn Bormes (Waddler Room)
    • Jill Cazett (Cruiser Room)
    • Erin Lenberg (Sea Mates)
  • Save your bubble wrap for January! Kids love bubble wrap and we have a fun day planned for one of our January sessions (think carpet and jumping and dancing). Bubble wrap is pricey, big or little bubbles are fine. If you have any that you can spare…

We are so thankful for you, and for your children. Blessings to you and your family as you celebrate the all the good things that the Lord has brought into your lives. May He receive all the glory.

Remember, the first 5 letters are the most important part of Christmas. May you have a blessed celebration of our Lord’s birth with your family!

November 25th Newsletter

This Week's Speaker:

Carol Edwards: Thanksgiving
My name is Carol Edwards. I've been the mentor for the New Ulm MOPS for many years. I've been married to my husband, Rod for 38 years and we have 4 kids who are your age; 2 boys and 2 girls. They are all married and have given us 6 grand-babies, 4 of whom live in Oklahoma City with our 2 daughters. I know about long-distance relationships. One of our sons and his family live in Inver Grove and the other lives near home. My husband is a trucker so I can identify with raising kids alone.

I was a full-time stay-at-home mom until my kids got older. Then I got a part time job at a local independent, family-owned, manufacturing jewelry store and have been there almost 20 years. There is more to learn in that industry all the time so it continues to be interesting and I like waiting on people! I also have a sewing business and recently took up painting as a hobby. I have an artist's page on Face Book: caroledwardsoriginals if anyone is interested. I help out with our church youth group weekly as well as the MOPS times so I keep busy with younger people and they give me energy and joy!

This Week's Reminders:

  • December 9th is our last meeting of the year.
  • We still have a few more openings so if you know anyone who is interested in joining MOPS, have them download an application on this blog and email it to maplegrovemops@gmail.com
  • If you write a blog (personal or for a business) and would like have it shared on this blog, email Holly at itsthesimplethings@zoho.com
  • If you are still not added to our facebook group, talk to your DGL or  request to be added on facebook so that you aren't missing out on all the fun!

This Week's MOPPETS:

MOPPETS for November 2014 Theme: Gratitude and thankfulness

Things to note for the week of November 25th:
  • We will be taking pictures this week of our little MOPPETS classes so be sure to have your little ones here.
  • BOZ in time for Christmas! BOZ the Bear is our curriculum for MOPPETS. We will be placing orders for our BOZ bear plush stuffed animal and BOZ CDs and orders must be received along with payment on the 25th. Order form is attached or will be available at your MOPS tables and please make checks payable to Lori Andreen. We will place the orders right away so that we are sure to have them for you by our next meeting Tuesday, December 9th. They will be hidden so your children won’t see them on the way home.

Thanking God is the next theme for BOZ Treehouse Time! at MOPPETS.
When asked to thank God during a prayer, young children will typically take a fast glance around and end up mentioning shoes, pictures on the wall, the table and anything else in sight. So, before MOPPETS, help your child identify some of the significant blessings your family enjoys (other than shoes and the kitchen table!). These conversations will prepare your child for our session about a harvest of blessings.

  • Memory Verse: God is good to me (From 1 Chronicles 16:34 "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.")
  • Biblical Concept: God gives me many blessings.
  • Snack: Goldfish crackers

Looking ahead:
  • Steering Team Meeting Moms for Tuesday, December 2nd 9:15 – 11:45. Thank you so much for helping out!!!

This week's MOPPETS:

MOPPETS! RescueMan to the Rescue.

For October 28th: If you would like, have your child dress up in his or her costumes for MOPPETS. Another opportunity to play dress-up!

BOZ Buzz! Helping others is the next theme for BOZ Treehouse Time! at MOPPETS. We will talk about ways we can help, especially during autumn. As your child participates in daily activities at home, affirm pro-social behaviors like sharing toys and showing kindness. As you know, young children must repeat these behaviors again and again before they become completely integrated into their character. It’s worth the effort, though!

  • Biblical Concept: Love others as much as you love yourself.
  • Concept in Action: I can care and I can share.
  • Memory Verse: I care about people (from Matthew 22:39 The Message (MSG) 37-40 Jesus said, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.’ This is the most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: ‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’ These two commands are pegs; everything in God’s Law and the Prophets hangs from them.”
  • Snack: Fruit Kabobs: Blueberries and mini-marshmallows with goldfish.

Upcoming Events:
  • November 25th: We will be taking classroom pictures to share with you and your family only. Be sure to have your child here so they can be included in the class picture with their MOPPETS buddies!
If you would like more information about the BOZ curriculum, please visit BozTheBear.com. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. I look forward to getting to know you all!

Have a blessed year with MOPS and MOPPETS!
